1. 360° vertical suction
Suction of polluted indoor air by the low-noise and energy-efficient, 360° powerful DC fan.
2. Pre-filter
The pre-filter captures larger dust particles and other pollutants, such as pet hair and dander.
3. TRUE HEPA (H13) filter
The TRUE HEPA (H13) filter purifies 99.97% of all suspended matter down to 0.3 micrometres (0.3 µm) from the air. The HEPA filter is the most effective air filter for removing: dust, particulate matter, allergens and other solid particles.
4. Active carbon filter
The active carbon filter effectively filters gases, chemicals, cigarette smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOC) and odours from indoor air.
5. Tio2 photocatalytic filter
This filter can effectively reduce chemicals, bacteria and odors. The photocatalytic filter functions in conjunction with the UV-C LED lamp, creating a particularly powerful bacteria and virus killing effect.
6. Ioniser ozone-free DIN EN 60335-2-65
Two ionisers with a total capacity of more than 3,000,000 negative ions / cm³ that are dispersed throughout the room, thereby neutralising harmful substances and odours. The negative ions attach themselves to dust particles, micro-organisms and other undesired substances in the air and bind them together. In this way, the particles become heavier than the air and fall down or are filtered from the air by the air purifier.
7. UV-C LED Lamp
The lamp's ultraviolet light (UV-C radiation) with a wavelength of 254nm kills harmful micro-organisms such as: germs, viruses (a href="/en/blog/69/coronaprevention.html">SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19)mould (spores) and bacteria. What’s more, micro-organisms that have collected in the device are destroyed. This prevents them from multiplying and being distributed through the airflow in the room. Of all light rays, UV-C light has the highest frequency and shortest wavelength and therefore also contains the highest amount of energy which, through its radiation, penetrates the organism's outer membrane and destroys the DNA. With thousands of units of this type installed worldwide, the integrated UV-C technology has proven UV-C radiation to be highly effective against pathogenic viruses, bacteria and single-cell organisms. By applying UV-C light, microbiological inactivation rates of 99.99% and higher can be achieved.
8. Cleaned air

Intelligent Particle Sensor and digital monitor air purifier
A smart sensor measures and controls the air quality fully automatically. The fan automatically anticipates with 3 speeds the indoor air load of solid particles measured by the sensor.
The digital monitor of the air purifier CA-503B Compact Smart provides automatic and precise feedback on the current air quality by measuring the PM2.5 level in the indoor area.

Article measurement/Particulate Matter/PM2.5
Particulate matter is a collective term for air pollution with particles small enough to be inhaled. Particulate matter in the air can have harmful effects on health. In 1999/2008, the European Union set limit values for particulate matter PM10 (particulate matter with a particle size of about 10 micrometers / or 10 microns) and PM2.5 (particulate matter with a particle size of about 2.5 micrometers / or 2.5 microns).
The main source of particulate matter, especially PM10, in the indoor environment is tobacco smoke. In addition, particulate matter such as PM2.5 comes from the fireplace, from baking and frying and vacuuming.

Use and maintenance
Exterior cleaning and Intelligent Particle Sensor™
Cleaning exterior of the air cleaner:
1. Switch off the device and pull the plug out of the socket.
2. Use a soft damp cloth to remove dust and dirt from the device.
3. Make sure that no water gets into the device.
Cleaning Intelligent Particle Sensor™
Clean the air quality sensor every 6 to 8 weeks.
If the PM2.5 value changes, dust on the sensor lens may be cause.
Clean the sensor lens with a cotton swab:
1. Remove the cover of the sensor.
2. Clean the sensor lens with a cotton swab and water as instructed in the manual. Then dry the lens with a clean cotton swab.
3. Place the cover of the sensor back.
4. Do not wipe the sensor lens with alcohol or other organic solvent.
Attention:
If the humidity in the room is very high, there is a risk of condensation on the air quality sensor. This may cause the air quality indicator (Digital Display - Particle Measurement) to incorrectly indicate that the air quality is poor (which should not be the case). In this case, we recommend that you clean the air quality sensor or do not use the air purifier in automatic mode.
Cleaning and replacing filters
Replacing the composite combination filter:
The Clean Air Optima® intelligent air purifier CA-503B Compact Smart is equipped with a filter life monitoring mechanism that indicates when the combination filter has to be replaced after 1700 working hours. To indicate that the combination filter (Pre-filter, TRUE HEPA (H13) filter, active carbon filter and Tio2 photocatalytic filter) needs to be replaced, the indicator light of the air purifier starts flashing. Press the filter change button after the filter has been changed. This resets the change filter timer. The display lights up for 1 second, then the device goes into standby mode. Pressing the power button turns the device back on.
Depending on use, the combination filter should be replaced every 4-5 months.
Signs of used-up filters: increased noise level, decreased airflow, clogged filter and increased odour. If the HEPA filter changes colour, from white to grey or black, the filter should be replaced with a new one. If the HEPA filter remains white, it does NOT need to be replaced.
For optimal effect, the permanent pre-filter in the Clean Air Optima® intelligent air purifier CA-503B Compact Smart and the combination filter can be cleaned monthly in between using a soft brush or your hoover (see air purifier CA-503B Compact Smart manual).
Warning
Never wet or rinse the combination filter with water.
Using essential oils
For aromatherapy, only use Clean Air Optima® essential oils which have been specially developed for air purifiers.
The use of other essential oils or additives not developed for air purifiers may damage the device! Appliances damaged by such additives are excluded from the warranty.
